About Us

Elbow Dance Collective was born and raised during the pandemic.

Formed by Bianca Mikahil, Harry Theadora Foster and Lisa Marie Robinson, Elbow Dance Collective is a dance based collective that aims to create work that combines dance, speech and humor and has a very direct goal: to make the audience feel something.

Bianca (she/her), Harry (he/him) and Lisa (she/her) met while training at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, in London, UK.

When they were given the opportunity to create work for the school's Student Platform showcase, they found themselves creating together at first due to Covid restrictions, but it quickly became clear that they create amazingly well together.

After receiving such overwhelmingly positive feedback and support for their work, Elbow Dance Collective plans to keep producing and combining various art forms with dance, to explore different stories and to connect with a wide range of audiences from all over the world.

  • Bianca Mikahil was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, and moved to London in 2019 to study at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, where she graduated with a First Class BA (Hons). Upon arriving in Europe, she started a journey of exploring her Brazilian identity, navigating the complexities of being an immigrant abroad while also confronting the feeling of displacement when at home. Over the past few years, Bianca has developed a deep sense of belonging within her community and culture, which has sparked a growing curiosity about how she relates to the art and cultural landscapes that surround her and influence her work. Throughout her career, Bianca has performed works by Alleyne Dance, Joy Alpuerto Ritter, Ivri&Greben, Richard Alston, and toured with National Dance Company Wales, performing works by Marcos Morau and SAY (Sarah Golding and Yukiko Masui). She later joined the touring production of Jungle Book Reimagined with Akram Khan, with whom she has been on tour since 2023. Bianca was one of the National Youth Ballet’s Beyond Ballet Artists in 2021/2022 and co-created Elbow Dance Collective in 2021, alongside delivering workshops and masterclasses in São Paulo, Brazil and abroad.

  • Harry Theadora Foster is a dance artist and maker based in London. In 2022 he began working with Akram Khan (Jungle Book reimagined, Sherlock Holmes: A New Adventure), performing his work worldwide across 5 continents. He has also danced with James Cousins Company, CLOD Ensemble, Christopher Bruce, Richard Alston Dance, Richard Chappell Dance and Tim Casson (Casson and Friends Dance). He co-founded Elbow Dance Collective in 2021. Past works of his have been staged across the UK, at venues such as The Place (‘Adam’, 2025), the Playground Theatre, Sadlers Wells, and The Point, Eastleigh. He is a freelance teacher for Akram Khan Company, Rambert School, London Children’s Ballet, Acosta Dance Centre, Associate Artist-in-training at English National Ballet, and in October 2024, led his first eponymous Masterclass intensive in Taizhou, China.

Drawing from autobiographical experiences and his practice as a poet, storytelling is central to his work, focused on capturing and reimagining human experiences. He believes that the reality and universality of the physical body is something that connects all of us, an important tool to bring people together in our divisive present.
