Residencies

Over the past few years, Elbow Dance Collective has been fortunate to take part in several creative residencies, generously supported by organisations such as Rambert School and Ugly Duck Studios. We’re incredibly grateful for these opportunities, which have given us time and space to explore, experiment, and grow as a collective.

Here’s a glimpse into what we’ve been working on during those periods of research and development.

Rambert School Residency
January 2024

In January 2024, we spent a week together at Rambert School doing some research around the humor behind famous politician’s physicality and how that can be used as a mockery and distraction to what they are actually saying.

Ugly Duck Residency
May 2025

In May 2025, we spent a week together at Ugly Duck studios research different themes, such as the connection and disconnection through speech and language, repetition and rhythm.
We opened class and connected with the Freelance community in London, and had dance artist Kia Jewell joining us for some research sessions.
